The Matterhorn Suite for the HP NonStop™ Server consists of interrelated products and enables on-the-fly screen conversion and graphical user interface (GUI) enhancements of SCOBOL applications for display in a browser or on a Windows client depending on technology used.

The Matterhorn Suite for the HP NonStop™ Server (NSK Server) enables on-the-fly screen conversion and graphical user interface (GUI) enhancements of SCOBOL applications for display in a browser or on a Windows client. More than just a screen scraper or emulator, Matterhorn converts your SCOBOL screens automatically with no coding or reprogramming. Plus, it creates new front-end interfaces while leaving your back-end Pathway SCOBOL application untouched. Adding the Matterhorn Suite to your Himalaya environment lets you easily:
- Replace IBM and Tandem terminal emulators with an enhanced Web- or Windows-based GUI, with no coding or reprogramming.
- Publish a SCOBOL application on the Web or in Windows in half-an-hour without changing your SCOBOL code. Your SCOBOL screen is automatically converted to a JAVA applet on the server or PC client.
- Release costly server resources by moving tasks to workstations. POBJ interpretation occurs through Matterhorn's TCP-like processes on the workstation or the Web server.
- Combine non-NSK applications or create new applications by linking and integrating them from different platforms, then make them accessible through one common interface.
Matterhorn works with what you have. Existing software and hardware investments are fully protected. The Matterhorn Suite consists of five products that make it possible for you to break away from outdated green screen interfaces and multiple standalone applications and easily move to GUI-based interfaces that display information from multiple systems.
MattWeb serves as the graphic gateway to the Internet for your Pathway applications. Without any redevelopment you can make your applications directly accessible to Web technology and also use them as part of your eBusiness strategy.
You can even access your Web-enabled applications via an intranet or extranet and link them to applications at other locations. MattWeb makes it easy for employees to do their work remotely, with no compromises to the security of data: the Himalaya™ remains the site for transactions, while MattWeb supports Secure Socket Layer (SSL) on the server side. It also supports UNIX, Microsoft, and Compaq's ITP Web servers.
MattOpen provides a set of tools to enable you to open your Himalaya™ environment. You'll be able to easily:
- Maintain your Pathway system and extend it with applications developed on Windows workstations (Delphi, Microsoft Visual C, Microsoft Visual Basic, Borland C or Pascal, SmallTalk, and others)
- Integrate your Pathway system with standard applications and tools such as MS Office, Lotus SmartSuite, SAS, and more
- Replace SCOBOL requesters with new clients such as Windows programs or Web-based pages - at your own pace
- Integrate your current Pathway system with new modules from third-party vendors or modules developed in-house
The MattOpen Dynamic Interface lets you access and control legacy Pathway applications from new client applications on the PC. The MattOpen Dynamic Interface uses Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE), enabling data transfer from the Himalaya™ to the PC and vice versa. The Mattopen.dll, a dynamic link library, establishes and maintains the connection between the PC-based applications and your legacy Pathway
Matterhorn for Windows (MattWin) Unlike other software products that make Pathway applications available to client/server technology by converting the requester source code into non-maintainable code of another programming language prior to execution, Matterhorn for Windows automatically converts the SCOBOL screens from the POBJ into Windows client programs, without generating any code to maintain.
You can install, run, and maintain Matterhorn for Windows from a network server. All Matterhorn sessions can be configured remotely, regardless of the number of users. Matterhorn for Windows uses Client Server Link (CSL) from Comforte as a transport layer between the Himalaya™ and the client platform.
Screen Designer helps end users by giving them new functionality and a new graphics look to their SCOBOL screens, without changing the original SCOBOL code or recompiling it. The Screen Designer creates style sheets for each screen and at execution time overlays the newly designed layout onto the existing SCOBOL requester. Screen Designer lets you:
- Rearrange and remove screen objects I
- Insert and run multimedia objects, including video and sound clips
- Create and associate selection lists and entry histories with edit fields, and assign click actions to edit fields and graphics
- Create tabbed notebooks to organize the screens better
- Associate push buttons with function keys and macros
- Insert frames around selected fields
- Map function keys
- Create macros to speed up and simplify administrative tasks
The Data Explorer feature of Screen Designer provides a fast and easy way of monitoring and maintaining your Screen Designer databases on a large scale. It: Allows you to create multiple requester layouts on the fly and preview your screens Lets you drag objects from one requester to another and from one database to another, or drag requesters from one database to another Makes it possible for you to move from test to production in a matter of seconds by simply dragging your changes from the test database to the production database.
MattTux is a source conversion tool that Pathway applications into BEA TUXEDO middleware, eliminating a permanent client interface, proprietary middleware, or a fixed server implementation.Using BEA TUXEDO middleware, applications can handle thousands of users accessing hundreds of servers and deploying millions of transactions.
